NEW POLICY DUE TO COVID-19

Effective immediately, I am transitioning to off site sessions by phone or video chat. I can make arrangements to meet in person at my office if privacy is an issue. I believe in person sessions are most effective, and I hope it is temporary. Please stay healthy, and wash those hands!

Life was supposed to be easier!

Feelings of tension, vague worry or unhappiness cloud our days.  We get thrown curve balls, and we feel overwhelmed: as Buddha said, the only thing constant is change. Therapy can help you learn to ride those waves, giving you tools both to feel better on a day to day basis and cope with things as they come up in the future

"You don't have to get stuck in a negative experience. You don't have to be a victim to external events, or internal emotions. You can use your mind to take charge of how you feel, and how you act."

-Dan Siegel

I am a solution focused therapist who uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help you learn to listen to yourself.  There is an internal dialogues going on constantly, and the tendency is to believe the things we are telling ourselves are true. Deliberately and consciously examining that dialogue allows us to alter it. Anxiety, worry and self -criticism are destructive and not useful to us. In addition, those thoughts keep us from connecting to the happiness that is in our lives. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from your true self. Thus, not only will you feel better, but your relationships with others will also become more meaningful and positive.

I also aid in teaching mindfulness and relaxation techniques, through guided imagery and meditation. There are powerful tools that research has shown can affect our involuntary processes to aid in becoming more thoughtful, relaxed and calm.

If you’re looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you’re just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.

Please call or email me for an individual therapy consultation today.
