Many of us go through life feeling disconnected, vaguely unhappy, or even constantly tense and anxious, often without knowing why or how we can change. Unfortunately, our negative thoughts and bad experiences usually carry much more power than any of the positive things in our lives. We often believe that there is nothing we can do about these thoughts, and end up stuck in an unhappy cycle. But you don't have to live your life this way! It is possible to change longstanding habits and experience life the way we were meant to.
I am a solution focused therapist who uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help you learn to listen to yourself. By doing this deliberately and consciously, you can actually start to change what you think, and subsequently how you feel. Anxiety, worry and criticism are destructive and keep us from connecting to the happiness that is in our lives. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from your true self. Thus, not only will you feel better, but your relationships with others will also become more meaningful and positive.
In addition to learning new ways of thinking (that lead to happier ways of feeling), I also aid in teaching mindfulness and relaxation techniques, through guided imagery and meditation. There are powerful things we can do to affect even our involuntary processes and become more thoughtful, relaxed and calm.
If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.
